Although returning to an office environment or workplace appeared to have a mixed response from the general public, the team at Design Plus were keen to return to some sort of normality.

We were very fortunate that we were one of the few companies and industries that could safely remain open throughout the height of the pandemic, with only a select few individuals working from home, or splitting their time between the home and the office.

We're pleased to announce that after a few long and hard months, all employees have returned to their normal place of work, and feedback generally suggests that employees are happy and feel safe despite the ongoing uncertain circumstances

What have we done as a company to make the workplace safe, clean and hygienic?

We have continuously carried out a risk assessments in line with the UK government document “Working safely during COVID-19 in factories, plants and warehouses – guidance for employers, employees and the self-employed – 11th May 2020”, and our risk assessment sections match those outlined in this document. The risk assessment has been prepared in conjunction with representatives of all areas of our workforce and make us a Covid Secure workplace!

Social Distancing

We have implemented social distancing rules across all areas of the site, including meeting rooms and board rooms, offices, canteen areas, and toilets ensuring our employees are always at least 2 metres away from each other.

Cleaning the Workplace

Our cleaning schedule and processes have intensified, including the cleaning of shared workstations and equipment. We've also installed Pure Hold Hygienic door handles across the site, along side sanitising stations at all entrances and public areas. Pure Hold Antibacterial door handle covers use Silver Ion technology which has been tested and proven effective against the H1N1 virus (which has very similar characteristsics as Coronavirus), achieving a 99.99% reduction in viable H1N1 virus particles.

Use of PPE

Recommended PPE is in place for all colleagues, visitors and contractors in accordance with the government guidelines where necessary.

Visitors

Only essential contractors and visitors are currently allowed on site and all visitors must complete a pre-visit health questionnaire in relation to Covid-19 site controls.

Shift patterns

We've also reduced our shift numbers and amended shift times where possible to reduce the amount of people at changeover, and minimise risk.

Of course as the situation is rapidly changing, at Design Plus we are constantly monitoring the government advice and updating our risk assessments
