QC Laboratory Analyst

  • Hours: 37.5 hours (Mon-Fri)

Overview

We are looking for a bright, efficient, and well organised person to join our laboratory department. The ideal candidate would be someone with a keen eye for detail, methodical in their approach to work and be able to manage their own workload. Desirable but not essential: previous work experience in a laboratory and an A level in a science-based subject.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Test and monitor bulk stability samples for visual, odour, pH, and viscosity changes.
  • Test and monitor compatibility samples for pack integrity, weight changes, compatibility with fluid and dispense function.
  • Send out bioburden samples for testing and file relevant paperwork.
  • File bioburden results and report any anomalies to the relevant manager.
  • Quality control test and release production raw materials and maintain the quality control results tracker.
  • Quality control test and release production batches and maintain the Bulk QC results tracker.
  • When necessary, issue guidance to the Blending Operatives to adjust bulk products to ensure they meet the assigned bulk specification.
  • Produce bulk product Certificates of Analyses.
  • Produce stability and compatibility reports for inclusion in Product Information Files (PIFs).
  • Liaise with Development Chemists and Account Managers regarding test results.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Any general laboratory duties which may be required from time to time to support the function of the department.

Development Chemist

  • Location: Morecambe
  • Hours: 37.5 hours (Mon-Fri)

Overview

We are looking for a bright, efficient, and well organised person to join our laboratory department. The ideal candidate would be someone with a keen eye for detail, methodical in their approach to work and be able to manage their own workload. The job holder will support in the development and realization of products in the Laboratory and Formulations Department by supporting the Senior Development Chemist and carrying out department specific tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Essential:

  • Experience in developing cosmetics and toiletry formulations from first principles through to scale-up and subsequent full-scale manufacture
  • Knowledge of UK cosmetic legislation and awareness of European and global market regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work individually and efficiently
  • Demonstrate ability to efficiently plan, organise and manage their own workload proactively and on own initiative
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint - moderate understanding is essential
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

Desired:

  • Educated to degree level qualification or a Diploma in Cosmetic science
  • Experience in presenting products and concepts to customers
  • Ability to use computerised information systems to retrieve, update and input all relevant data

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Business Development Department to create new cosmetic formulations to budget in line with agreed customer briefs and provide new ideas for presentation to customers.
  • Ensure that new and existing products can be efficiently and consistently translated from sample to bulk production.
  • Provide product technical support to the Production Departments.
  • Evaluate stability and compatibility test data and ensure products are stable and fit for purpose throughout their shelf-life.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, maintain an awareness of new products, innovation, price levels and functionality.
  • Produce INCI listings and check artworks as and when required.
  • Compile and maintain Product Information Files (PIFs) as required.
  • Supervise initial batch manufacturing for each new formulation.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow Good Laboratory Practices.

Account Manager

  • Location: Morecambe

Overview

The company is looking to further expand its Commercial Team with the addition of an energetic and driven Account Manager. We are looking for a bright, efficient, and well organised person to join the business and make a real impression within the commercial department. You will be supporting the department maintaining existing customers, growing their accounts, and managing the successful development of sales in line with the agreed business development strategy. The role is key in contributing to the successful development of Design Plus Health & Beauty Ltd.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the maintenance and implementation of a plan for the development of sales in the target segments. 
  • To liaise responsively and proactively with customers and be regarded as a reliable first point of contact for delegated customers.
  • To follow delegated customer enquiries through from initial receipt to the production of samples and the generation of quotations as appropriate.
  • To proactively follow the New Product Introduction Procedure where applicable and communicate fully and appropriately with all members of the management team with regard to each project.
  • To collaborate with the Account Executives to ensure smooth administration of projects through the commercial department.
  • To respond to delegated enquiries from the company’s website.
  • To work with existing customers as appropriate on product development, suggest possible solutions and follow through new product investigations.
  • To build relationships with customers through regular communication and endeavouring to understand their needs.
  • To act as a representative of the company, ensuring that the company is shown in the best possible light at all times.
  • To assist the Commercial Director with the forecasting and setting of account targets for annual budgetting.
  • To act as a representative of the customer, ensuring that any issues the customer may have are communicated back to the company accurately, quickly, completely, comprehensively and to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • To maintain and report against the agreed  performance measures in line with the agreed timetable.
  • To be a role model for the agreed company values and behaviours on a day to day basis.
  • To communicate and interact constructively with other members of the management team in the pursuit of continuous improvement and the implementation of permanent solutions.
  • To deputise for the Commercial Director during holidays and periods of absence from the manufacturing site.
